Adrienne Chisolm Stephens

earned her B.A. in English Literature and Educational Studies at Brown University, and her M.Ed. in Reading Curriculum & Instruction at Cleveland State University. She is licensed in North Carolina in three areas: K-12 Reading Specialist, K-12 Exceptional Children’s Teacher and K-6 Classroom Teacher.

She has taught elementary, middle, secondary and adult levels. She has experience with students described as academically / intellectually gifted and with students who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Many of her students have been diagnosed with ADHD, specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, or autism.

Before launching Open Book, Adrienne worked for seven years as Exceptional Children’s Services Director and Reading Specialist at Kestrel Heights School in Durham. She has also been on the faculty as a Learning Specialist at the Center for Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
